paoelumba (2 months ago)
thanks so much!!
paoelumba (2 months ago)
can i use normal salt?
PrinceCaspian58 (2 months ago) BTW This is HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN ROCK SALT
nope. but you can make rock salt. 1. Heat some water.(But not too much water or will not work out!!!) While it's heating, dissolve as much salt in it as possible. Keep going until the water gets to the boiling stage.
2. When the boiling water cannot take any more salt (a saturated solution) take the mixture off the stove and let it cool. The salt will form crystals as the water evaporates.
3. Crush the salt crystals, and you've got rock salt.
ellguerrero (2 months ago)
just made this today
azreux (2 months ago)
does the salt make a big difference if u dont add them??
SGardner11 (2 months ago)
yea, it really does. i teach an after school program, (yea if u see my vids ull be like wtf, u teach um?) and i did this as an experiment wit my 5th graders and if u dont use alot of salt, it will not get cold enough
azreux (2 months ago)
mine didnt work:(( is it because i used coffee?
Louisdagod3 (3 months ago)
I just made this yesterday.
julynn31 (3 months ago)
I did this activity with my kindergarten students, and they loved it! It took about ten minutes or so for the ice cream to be solid enough to eat. I found out that I shouldn't bring rock salt to school, as it is toxic if it is ingested, so I'll try regular table salt the next time.
snugglebug4tm (3 months ago)
I'm lactose inttolerant so I made this with Soy Chocolate milk, It was great! Like a fudge bar or Wendys Frosty! MMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I also used table salt worked just fine.
yayafenella (3 months ago)
yep. i've made it a few times that way and it has worked every time.
McGavernVue (3 months ago)

shinrei87 (6 months ago)
i made these, and i have a tip to share: make the liquid slightly more flavorful than ur usual taste: eg more sweet. Cuz the sweetness will taste lesser when the liquid is frozen.

00Kakkoi00 (8 months ago)
You can use normal salt, just use twice as much.
starlionblue (8 months ago)
Rock salt makes a difference because it forces the temperature down more quickly than with regular table salt. It's vital in order to freeze the mixture.
elitegirl108 (8 months ago)
haha i remember doing this in like 2nd grade(:
and i had to make it with my "enemy"
those were the good days. haha
joeybradley98 (8 months ago)

OMG im acctually hyper thx for putting this on youtube thankyou thankyou im gonna make this on Christmas lol i cant ever go to sleep when its the day before ya get presents im so excited
69OatMeal69 (11 months ago)
actually its because salt water has a verry low freazing temp wich makes the ice/salt even colder cuz the ice is trying to stay frozen yet the salt is melting wich makes coldness burr!@!
69OatMeal69 (11 months ago)
wow dude your comment made me laugh thanks
nacnate (11 months ago)

nacnate (11 months ago)
LOL I PUT A CUP OF SUGAR IT TASKED SO GOOD but then I was hyper as hell! LOL
jawanruns (1 year ago)
i made this in elementry skool
KARStarla (1 year ago)
I'm new at this lol but I always wondered why the salt was nessasry in making the icecream since it does not come in contact with the ingredients, does anyone know the science behind that who could explain it to me?
aznaknaten (1 year ago)
Well the salt dissolves and melts the ice, melting ice is colder than slow melting ice.
It releases waves of low tempature
Hope that helped ^_^
KARStarla (1 year ago)
Hey, thanks! Yep you did :0)
popularity5411 (1 year ago)
we'll even though im only a 6th grader the ice cream salt lowers the tempeture so when shaking the bag it gets colder and colder i did this in 5th grade thats how i know
KARStarla (1 year ago)
thank you popularity :)
barbaricman123 (1 year ago)

VanillaxKiss18 (1 year ago)
Cullen, do you need to have WHOLE milk, or can you have regular different types of milk??
187N1gg4z (1 year ago)
Mistake In my message i used chocolate (nesquik)instead of vanilla.
187N1gg4z (1 year ago)
Thanks Cullen, my sister and me made it using chocolate (Nesquik)instead of sugar, but i didn't want a small amount because i was really hungry so i 5 times the ingredients. I was shaking it for 40 minutes straight my hands were red and sore. =] In the end it came out superb and i had enough ice cream to last a week. Thanks Cullen
Cullensabcs (1 year ago)
I have made more in one bag before and it does take a long time ;-) but the red hands and soreness are worth it! Glad to hear about the chocolate Nesquik-mmm

pmncj (1 year ago)
this is a clever way of making icecream. a teacher in my school made it and he shared it with my class it was so good. anyway great job Cullen!
ATV10Soccer (1 year ago)
Cool I remember making this in elementary and actually we used a smaller bag (the one with the ice) but it took like 15 minutes... and it was funny because a girls ice cream came out salty and she cried XD
hellviolence (1 year ago)
I made this like a few hours ago, and it tastes good...But I used honey instead of sugar...My hands were numb and tired because I used too much milk...
aznNrealist (1 year ago)
will it actually harden within 5 mins? that seems a bit too quick.
